The resistance of Tetracycline is very severe and Tetracycline has certain side effect, which constrain the application in the clinical practice. The objective of this study was mainly to screen some Traditional Chinese Medicine having inhibitive effectiveness or reversing action on resistance, with Tetracyclines-resistant Escherichia coli, in order to supply experiment data for resolving the problem of the resistance of Tetracycline in the clinical practice. Fourty-two kinds of Escherichia coli isolated from chicken are tested at the resistant rate to antibiotic by K-B way. The results indicated: the resistant rate to 10 antibiotics is greater than 50% in tested Escherichia coli. The resistant rate order from high to low as follows: Gentamycin (83.3%), Tetracycline (78.6%), and Amikacin. The resistant rate to Gentamycin is the highest and the resistant rate to Amikacin is the lowest. There are 3 kinds of resistance to antibiotic at least, 15 kinds of resistance to antibiotic at most in every strain of Escherichia coli, and average is 8 kinds. This indicated that high-level resistance and mulitiple resistance existed in Escherichia coli isolated from clinical practice. The resistant rate to Ceftriaxone is 19.0%, comparatively lower, which showed that Ceftriaxone can be applicated in the treatment to infection of Escherichia coli, but cautiously. The resistant rate to Amikacin is only 0.05%, which indicated that Amikacin is the best drug to kill Escherichia coli. By broth dilution method, MIC was tested in Tetracycline, Doxycycline, Ciprofloxacin, Ampicillin. The lowest MIC50 was 32μg/mL and the lowest MIC90 was 128μg/mL in the 2 kinds of Tetracycline drugs. The resistant rate to Ciprofloxacin and Ampicillin is 47.6% and 28.6%, respectively. The results indicated that the level of the resistance to Tetracycline drugs is high; furthermore it is resistant to Ciprofloxacin and Ampicillin to some extent. Fifty kinds of apozems (including 46 kinds of single Traditional Chinese Medicine and 4 kinds of prescription of Traditional Chinese Medicine) and 7 kinds of total alkaloids were extracted by pickling process, decocting method, continuous backstreaming and alkaloid extraction method. The bacteriostasis effectiveness was observed by punch method and broth dilution method in 57 kinds of Chinese herbal extraction. The results indicated 9 kinds of apozems (coptis root, chrysanthemum, black plum, argyi wormwood leaf, pomegranate bark, phellodendron bark, and wumeisan et al.) and 3 kinds of total alkaloids have bacteriostatic action against Escherichia coli, thereinto the bacteriostatic action of black plum is better. Bacteriostatic results of medicine and Tetracycline indicated that apozems of rhubarb, coptis root, and the changed prescription of yujinsan can inhibit the Tetracycline-resistance of Escherichia coli, while at the concentration of 25~100mg/mL, these apozems can reduce the MIC of Tetracycline-resistance of Escherichia coli by 1~3 gradients. These indicated that 3 kinds of apozems could inhibit the Tetracycline-resistance of Escherichia coli. Being treated with the above 3 kinds of apozems, the tested strains were extracted to get the plasmid, detected through agarose electrophoresis,...
