The growth hormone cDNA gene (cgh) of grassfish (Ctenopharyngodon idellus) was obtained by RT-PCR, the sequence analysis showed that the ORF (open reading frame) of cgh gene, encoding 210 amino acid residences, was 633 nucleotides. It has been known that 10 nucleotides, 1 predicted amino acid residues of the cgh gene was different by comparing with published cgh gene; the cgh gene was cloned into baculovirus transfer vector pBacPAK-His, and homology recombinant with linear baculovirus Bm-BacPAK-6 in Bombyx mori BmN cell, the recombinant viruses were screened by plaque assay. It indicated that the molecular weight of cgh gene's expression product in silkworm Bombyx mori was about 21kD by Westeron blotting analysis, the highest expression level was 71μg/mL haemalymph in silkworm larva and 100μg/pupa in pupa, respectively, at 96h, 108h post- inoculated with recombinant virus. The freeze-dried power of silkworm expressing CGH was added into the feed in the proportion of l/10~4~ 1/10~5, and the relative weight of different fishes were increased by 15%~35%.
