Silkworm (Bombyx mori) is model organism belonging to the second largest order Lepidoptera, Saturniidae. Silkworm has played an important role as an important economic insects in the development of silk industry, food, medicine and other fields, and silkworm is one of the classic biological in genetic studies. To investigate wether the transgenic feed affect economic traits and genetic traits of silkworm, According to glyphosate-resistant gene DNA sequence logged in GenBank, transgenic soybean primers were designed to identify qualitatively silkworm feed as containing glyphosate-resistant gene transgenic feed.Since the first genetically modified crop came into being in the world, the genetically modified crops as a cluster of highest economic return crop have been widely spread in an incomparable speed throughout the globe. A pairs of primers were designed according to entire exogenous DNA sequence of GM soybean from GenBank and used to detect transgenic silkworm feeds by qualitative test. Results showed that the feed is containing Roundup Ready gene.Statistics and the single factor of variance were analyzed for economic traits of continuous three generation silkworm fed with transgenic and non-transgenic feed, such as instar duration, whole cocoon weight, cocoon shell weight, cocoon shell ratio, pupae weight, setae dispersion rate, mortality and moltweight. At the same time the expression of exogenous genes were detected by PCR in silkworm tissues after feeding transgenic feed. The results showed that transgenic feed have no significant impact on growth and development of silkworm, and there were no pollution of exogenous gene in silkworm DNA.AFLP technology has the advantages, high accuracy, good sensitivity, good repeatability, high polymorphism, and in a short time can detect the nuances of DNA samples. Using this technique, silkworm genome were analyzed on silkworm of three generations fed non-transgenic and transgenic feed. The results showed that no difference were observed from the silver staining figure of silkworm genome of each generation using between non-transgenic feed and transgenic modified feed.So that transgenic feed is safe for feeding silkworm, but evaluation of transgenic feed for safety of silkworm rearing is a long process needed further in depth.
