LTPwxAkMS[LongtepuwxAMS], a no-pollen nuclear male sterility plant , wasfound in LTPwxA(WA) population which was transferred from LTPwxB,a waxy mutant derived from LTFPB by γ-ray Radiation , and was used to explore the genetic relationship among ms , cms and wx . Furthermore , ms gene was mapped by SSR marker. The main results were submitted as follows:(1) Genetic analysis suggested that no-pollen male sterility was controlled by a recessive nuclear gene ms. which maked sheathed panicle more seriously , higher percentage of exserted stigma and shorter plant height than that of cms-plants.(2) The genetical relationship between ms and wx gene was indepent ,therefore , the key technique for development of cms-LTPwxA breeder seeds was only to make ms gene free in the LTPwxB parent population.(3) That F1 from a cross between cms-LTPwxAMS and LTPwxB was fertile could be interpreted as follows: ms gene was epistatical to cms, the genetic development of ms gene is superior-to that of cms, which leaded to the development of male sterility to be covered. However, its merchanism was still unknown.(4) RM579 marker was found being link with ms on Chromosome 1 with a distance of 13.2cM by application SSR marker. Further study was necessary to identify whether ms was allellic to ms-18 and msm77(t) which were two nuclear male sterility genes mapped on Chromosome 1 so far.
