By PAGE, we studied the changes about the activity of peroxidase and its isozymes of the 88-428(BY) and the yellow round soybean at the different photoperiod treatment and development stages. The experimental results are concluded as follows:(1): From emergenc, the photoperiod-sensitive male sterile 88-428(BY) of the soybean was treated by 20 days short-day(SD) of 14.8-15.2h/d. So two characteristic peroxidase isozymes bands (Rf=0.30. Rf=0.70) of the 88-428(BY) were obvious less than that of the 88-428(BY) treated by the LD( 14.9-15.3h/d) and the yellow round soybean. And all the stages, the isozyme band of Rf=0.70 was not occurred any more. Perhaps the short-day treatment of SD is necessary to the fertility.(2): Compared the 88-428(BY) SD(14.8-15.2h/d) with the 88-428(BY) LD(14.9-15.3h/d), a new isozyme band of Rf=0.19 was found for the first time in the leaves of the 88-428(BY) SD from the branching. Especially, the new isozyme band excited at the all development stages, which showed thai some new protein was occurred and these protein could be translated to the new leaves. Those changes of leaves protein in photosensitive period might be involved in fertility.(3): At the different development stages, the isozyme band of the 88-428(BY) by treated with SD. were no more than that of the 88-428(BY) by LD, in breeding. Perhaps the absence of the characteristic protein bands, have on effect on the pollen abortion.(4): Not only 88-428(BY) but also yellow round soybean, the activity of the peroxidase were increased under the treatment with SD. Especially, there was a max at flowering. And the peroxidase activity in 88-428(BY) leaves at flowering was related to pollen fertility of 88-428(BY).
