Notopterygium incisium is traditional Chinese herbs, which mainly grows in Sichuan,Gansu,Qinghai and Yunnan province. Nowadays, leechdom was met by collecting natural resources. But wild N.incisium has its own limitations, such as its inclement entironment, slower growth and species renewal. With rapidly increasing demands and the drive of economy interest, blindly picking from herdsmem had made wild N.incisium not only become extinct but entironment worsen as well. Therefore, wild familyization can bring significant economy value, society and ecology benefits, which will be helpful to meet market demands and make natural resources develop sustainably. However, there are not systemic study on N.incisium, for example, its entironment, resources depositing capacity and distribution characteristic, including growth and breeding laws are still not clear. The reason lies in seeds dormancy, which results in lower bourgeoning rate or no bourgeoning. This is also the limiting factor and key problem what domestication have to solve. So, on the base of fieldwork, the seeds and rhizomes of wild N.incisium were studied both in the laboratory and in the fields. The contents included N.incisium's entironment, laws of its growth and development, characteristic of seeds dormancy and methods of breaking it down, techniques of raising seedling in nursery etc. The results were as follows: 1.The fieldwork showed that N.incisium grew at the area of high altitude(2400~3500m). The agrotype fell into inferior high mountain meadow soil and forest soil, where the contents of soil organic substances was about 1% -3% high, soil took on minute acidity or neutral (pH 6.5 -7.0), and relative water content was beyond 30%. Its fitting temperature was 2~13℃and the illumination intensity value was 210×102~280×102lx, which reached 19%~21% of nature illumination. Therefore, N.incisium adapted high altitude and cooling climate which had limited ecology and distribution ranges. Altitude, temperature, illumination and water played leading role in N.incisium's growth. 2. The fieldwork showed that seeds reproduction was the main approach of natural species renewal. But its reproduction rate was extremely low, only with 0.52% germination rate. 3.By the morphological dissection study, physiology and biochemical mensuration of N.incisium seeds, the results showed that seeds embryo had the property of after-ripening, with 8~10 months'dormancy period. Only by embryo after-ripening can seeds dormancy be broken down. Meanwhile, germination tests also indicated that after-ripening of N.incisium seeds embryo were the main reason of dormancy, which include uncompleted differentiation type and uncompleted development type. After morphological ripening, the seeds are still needed to go though a short physiology dormancy because of the influence of endogenous substance in endosperm. 4.The temperature-changing stratification (first warm and then chilling) were better than other treatments for breaking down seeds dormancy. The results of different temperature-changing stratification modes had significant difference on germination rate (F=6.260**). That is, N.incisium seeds needed a warm stratification period (15~25℃) for 3 months in order to complete embryo development. And then chilling stratification (2~5℃)should treat the seeds for 3 months, and therefore the dormancy of N.incisium seeds can be completely broken down. 5.The study showed that the N.incisium seeds treated with full-stratification could accelerate germination course easily and get a very high germination rate. Although exogenous hormones didn't obviously affect the germination and germination process, the mixing use of 6-BA and GA3 helped shorten the dormancy period of seeds. Treatments of GA3 at the level of 200 mg/L, 100 mg/L GA3+10 mg/L 6-BA and 200 mg/L GA3+10 mg/L 6-BA could promote the growth of radical and stem length, promoting germination. 6. The results showed that the container planting can receive the best germination when the seeds dormancy had been broken down after full stratification, which had significant difference(F=6.87**)comparing to field one, with 19.0%germination rate. In addition, taking nutrition soil as cultivating materials can make germination advance, earlier 5~8 days than other basic materials. Germination rate reached 21% and seedlings were not only strong but its survival rate was high.7.After 1 year's domestication, the results showed that wild familization could be realized by tow approaches. One was to take advantage of uncertain sprouts inserted in rhizomes of N.incisium. Following 3 cultivation techniques: a. Seasons for transplanting should be arranged in autumn (the last ten-day of Sep.) or in spring (the last ten-day of March). According to 20cm rows and 30cm array, wild rhizomes were evenly or erectly planted in the fertile soil; b. After bourgeoning, using havelocks and spray to avoid high temperature of summer; c. Strengthening field management, watering timely and paying attention to the prevention and cure for plant diseases and insect pests. Another was seeding reproduction (main approach) treating seeds with temperature-changing stratification, then raising seedling to transplant. The techniques were: using container to raise seedlings and transplant when seedlings had 4~6 real leaves, watering timely and shading.
