This paper takes the county of Zhungeer in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Regional as an example, studying how to construct the rain-collecting agriculture and develop courtyard economy. The experiment site is lied in the Ecotone of the North Loess Plateau, the ecological environment is fairly vulnerable, the natural conditions are poor, the runoff of soil-water is hard, the productivity of the soil is very low, and the vegetation has serious been destroyed by the overage feed. So it is time to harsh it The study of water-saving courtyard economy may alleviate the pressure of ecological environment, speed the development of the region economy. So it is significant. The main results of the study are as follows:(1) In the experiment areas, the construction of the rain-collection establishments that mainly containing dry well, water vault and water stove, is the foundation of the development of the courtyard economy. According to the characteristic of local precipitation, it analyzed the potential amount of rain-collection, and in the present condition the large amount of rain in a courtyard in fact, the number of dry well in the different levels of precipitation and assure ratio. The large amount of rain in a courtyard in fact is 390.1 m3, and the number of dry well is 13.(2) According to a typical courtyard, it counts that the average annual amount of rain gathered is 240.7 m3, the need water amount of people in the 3 levels (30, 20 and 10L/d) each is 38.04, 31.66 and 25.73 m3/a; the amount of the breeding water in the 3 levels each is 38.04, 31.66 and 25.73 m3; the largest and the least amount of a courtyard planting each is: 18.1 and 10.1 m3. According to the basic limiting factors: survival period and economic effect, the sequence priority is decided: the living water of people—the breeding water—the planting water; and it also does a new sequence priority in the 3 parts.(3) In the planting systems of the courtyard, basically according to the clue of mathematics equation B=R×C1×C2×C3 that expressed how to increase the water transform efficiency, it analyses the 3 parameters: C1, C2 and C3. When the area ratios of the courtyard to road are 1:2, 1:1 and 2:1, the value of C1 each is: 48%, 52.6% and 57.0%. For the different economic crop in the courtyard that are vegetable, watermelon and fruit tree, the value of C2 each is: 21.8,15.6 and 60.7 kg/m3; C3 is 0.84,0.42 and 0.50 yuan/kg. It also puts forward the approaches of increasing the water transform efficiency for each parameter.
