Four sugar beet varieties with different resistance to Rhizomania were used as materiacs. We studied the relationship of the lutein, carotenoid, phenol, phytin, soluble protein contents, acativity of proteinase, nuclein, phosphorus of resistant /sensitive varieties and resistance to Rhizomania of sugar beet grew in Rhizomania infected soil and normal soil by comparative physiology method. The result showed: carotenoid, lutein, phenol and phytin contents of root tuber and leaf blade of the resistant varieties were more than those of sensitive varieties. Second, soluble protein contents of resistant varieties were higher than that of sensitive varieties in early growth period in Rhizomania infected soil, and the activity of proteinase and the soluble protein presented high negative correlation, phosphorus contents of root tuber varieties were higher remarkably than that of sensitive varieties; in normal soil, nuclein contents were all higher than that of sensitive varieties in later growth period. As mentioned above, carotenoid, lutein, phenol, phytin, phosphorus, nuclein and so on were all related with the resistance to Rhizomania of sugar beet, they can be used as physiological index or referenced target of the physiological seed selecting of the sugar beet especially in sickles soil. It's important to accelerating process of seed selecting and breeding and increasing the quality of seeds...
