On the basis of studying on research result of forage chopping and relative theoretic analyses on one-sheet hyperboloid cylindrical cutter with flat surface and straight edge, a prototype machine was designed and developed.By means of mathematic analysis, the equations of the angle of pinching for the cutter were obtained, which were expressed by the maximum radius, the length of cylinder, the height of shear bar placed and the angle between blade edge and shaft which the blades were rotating about.Based on the mechanics analysis, the mathematical model of the cutting torque was established, and the validity of the model was demonstrated by the experiments.The influences of the cutting velocity and the height of the shear bar on the cutting energy were analyzed with quadratic regress orthogonal rotary experiment, and a regress ional equation was established. Moreover, the optimization design method was employed to achieve a best, realizable and feasible plan of cooperation parameters.
