Thirty-two adult healthy Pekingeses, with the weight of approximately 5 kg, were randomly divided into 4 groups, 8 dogs for each group. Group 1 was used as the control, and the others (group 2, 3 and 4) were used as the experimental groups and respectively given Yinchenhao decoction, Yujin Yinchengao decoction and Yinzhihuang injection. The models of intrahepatic cholestasis jaundice for all dogs were induced by oral administration of ANIT, and then treated with different preparations of Chinese herbs mentioned above for 15 days. The effects of prevention and treatment to intrahepatic cholestasis jaundice were observed for these Chinese herbs in this experiment. The results were given follows:1. To determine physiological and biochemical data in Pekingeses: Physiological and biochemical data are determined for all clinical healthy Pekingeses in the experiment, which could be used as normal biological value to evaluate clinical treatment in Pekingeses.2. Models of experimental intrahepatic cholestasis jaundice: After oral administration of ANIT, the values reflecting Pekingeses cholestasis, including serum TB, DB, AST, ALT and ALP, increase remarkably and agreet with the changes of biochemical indexs of acute intrahepatic cholestasis. All values mentioned above resume within 12 days.3. Influence of Chinese herbs on WBC: The WBC of group 1 rised rapidly and reached maximal value on the 4th day after taking ANIT, it is higer than the other groups, and the difference is significant (P<0.01). The WBC of group 3 rised slowly.cornpared with the WBC before taking ANIT, the difference is unsignificant (P > 0.05).The WBC of group 2 and group 4 reached top value on the 2th day and then decreased, compared with the WBC before taking ANIT, the difference is significant (P<0.01).This suggests that Yujin Yinchengao have remarkable anti-inflammatory, and Yinchenha soup and Yinzhihuang also have somewhat but lesser.4. Influence of Chinese herbs on serum bilirubin: Serum bilirubin of all groups rised rapidly and reached top value after administration of ANIT. Bilirubin of group 3 was relatively lowest, and resumed soonest. Although bilirubin of group 1 was the highest among 4 groups.the significant difference lied only between group 1 and group 3 (p<0.01). It indicates that Yujin Yinchengao is more beneficial on reducing serum bilirubin than the other Chinese herbs.5. Influence of Chinese herbs on liver function: Enzymatic activities in the liver of group 1 rised fastest and declined slowest, and the liver pathological tissue were the most severe. Enzymatic activities in the livers of other 3 groups rised to various degree, but lesser than group 1. Enzymatic activities in the liver of group 2 and group 4 were higher than group 3. Compared with before taking ANIT, group 3 didn't appear difference during experimental period. These show that yujinyincheng is more better for liver function than yinchengao and Yinzhihuang.
