Based on the same feeding husbandry, two different feeding programs (restricted seding from 4 week-old or 8 week-old ) were contrasted on Xianhu NO.3 Breeder ucks. The total 1860 ducklings of parental generation were randomly divided into ontrol group I and comparison group II, each group included 930 individuals 30 male ducklings and 800 female ducklings), respectively. Restricted feeding ograms were practised in group I (ad libitum before 8 week-old, restricted eding from 8 week-old to age at first laying) and group II (ad libitum before 4 eek-old, restricted feeding from 4 week-old to age at first laying). After 64 weeks, e results indicated as follows:The first egg was seen at 27 and 26 weeks in group I and group II , spectively. The age at first laying and the age of laying climax were 36 and 30 eeks, 44 and 40 weeks in group I and group II, respectively. The average amount of laying eggs were 133 and 150,the total production of ying eggs was 96409 and 110340,respectively. The average laying rate of breeding gs was 69.97% and 65.72%, the eligibility of breeding eggs was 89.29% and .22%, fertility rate of breeding eggs was 94.67% and 93.93%, the hatchability ched 85.80% and 84.32%, the healthy duckling percentage reached 97.93% and .01%. All the indexes above showed no significant difference, which illustrated nodifference for two different programs. The total feeding consumption was 79160 kg in group I and 77720 kg in group II, the total feeding consumption of each breeder duck was 95.861 kg in group I and 94.212 kg in group II. The feeding consumption in group I was significant higher than that in group II. By comparison the profits of group I (-11103.04 yuan) and group II (7307.72 yuan), the profit in group II was more economical efficient than that in group I .Although the laying ability, eligibility and hatchability of breeding eggs were slightly higher in group I than those in group II , there existed more feed consumption, lower laying eggs and economical profits in group I . All these showed the program of restricted feeding at 4 week-old was better than the program of restricted feeding at 8 week-old.
