Study And Practice Of Agricultural Technology Extension For Good Agricultural Practiceon Crop Pest Control In Tongxiang County

The project, pest control of crop without pollution (good agricultural practice, GAP) , is started in 2001 as a provincial plant protection project by Zhejiang agricultural department and Zhejiang general station of plant protection. It is not only one of our routine work on plant protection , but also is an important event in developing Green Zhejiang and Ecological Zhejiang.Tongxiang County, one demonstrating unit of the first batch in the province, was localized on paddy rice and Hangbaiju production of good agricultural practice.. In the past three years, the technique for crop protection was developed by agricultural technical departments, such as forecast of main crop pests on single rice, standard operation program (SOP) for GAP of Hangbaiju, some pesticides available for substituting methamidophos, omethoate and carbofuran after screening trials. Some activities of agricultural technology extension were succeeded in training farmers to improve their knowledge of crop protection, and developing farms for GAP, multimedia network for the agricultural technological news.Main achievements of the project above were as follows:(1) Forecast of emergence and damage of Chilo suppressalis, rice leaf roller, Nilaparvata lugnes and Sogatella furcifera on single rice was characterized, and the strategies for control of main pests above were improved .(2) Several effective pesticides were utilized successfully for good agricultural practice instead of those high toxic pesticides, methamidophos, omethoate, carbofuran and methyl parathion widely used in the county.(3) Some SOPs under GAP principle were conducted to produce rape, rice, cucumber. Hangbaiju, stem mustard, fruits, local chicken and ram. Nine "model farms" and 9 "green crop produts" were certified by Zhejiang Provincial Government. And other 4 "safe crop products" and 2 "green foods" were certified by the national government(4) "Farm school in field" was valid as a new way to train farmers and propagate agricultural technological knowledge in the County.(5) An other way was utilized effectively to give information to farmers in the locations by the multimedia network of agricultural technology news.(6) A laboratory was established in the County for determination and monitoring of agricultural pollutants.
