The facts that ecological environment deteriorates and forest area sharply reduces on a global scale warn people to realize that forest resources are very important for human being. So many questions like how we protect and administrate the extant forest resources and get information changes of forest resources in time await to be solved.Geographic Information System (GIS) is a computer system about spatial data management and spatial information analysis. GIS of forest resources information management and MapObjects (MO) for the assistant decision-making system of forest resources information management in Laoshan experimental station, using the spatial graphic information and attribute data information of 1983 and 1999's forest resources, are successfully established in this thesis in which the theory and technology of GIS is employed. At the same time, Radial Basis Function of Artificial Neural Networks (RBF ANN) in Matlab 6.2 was used to predict the future forestry reserve. By this system, visualization management of forest resources information was realized and it can be used as a tool of decision-making in forest management and administration in inquiring, displaying, map-making, spatial analyzing, dynamic inspecting and data replacing. By this system, the changes of forest resources between 1983 and 1999 was also studied. The operation of GIS not only changes traditional management method of forest resources with this system, raise the management efficiency and technological level of forest resources in the process from the independent management of graph and data to comprehensive management with GIS, but also accelerate the steps of digital forest construction in Laoshan experimental station.Some key techniques and principles, concerning the establishment of spatial database, the customization of user's interface with Arc View's second development language avenue, the establishment of decision-making system of forest resources information by using Arc View's component MapObjects 2.1 based on platform of Visual Basic6.0 and the prediction process of forestry reserve by using Radial Basis Function of Artificial Neural Networks are all illustrated in details, supply the demonstration, data support and technological reference to be applied in GIS development for further realizing digital administration of forest resource information as well as supporting assistant decision-making system in Laoshan experimental station.
