In the experiment, 3 kinds of feeds were fed to 15 growing male deer(15-16 months old) in 2002. They included 2 kinds of self-designed pellets (pelletl, crude protein 19.38%, gross energy14.09MJ/KG; pellet2,crude protein 18.00%, gross energy14.49MJ/KG) and the normal feed used in the deer farm. The relative best feed(pellet2)was sifted after feeding experiments, digest experiments, determinations of the growth quota and comparison and study among economic benefit results. The pellet 3 was designed on the basis of the pellet 2 and fed to 44 growing male deer(15-16 months old) as well as the normal feed in 2003. The best pellet formula was defined after feeding experiments, digest experiments and the comprehensive comparison of the norms of blood biochemistry. The results indicated:1. The design of pellet formula was reasonable. Its nutritional level was: dry matter 89.06% , crude protein17.02% , crude fat1.06% , ash4.98% , calcium0.94% , phosphorus0.42% and energy 14.51MJ/KG. The norms of quality technique was: pellet hardness 0.08-0.10Mpa, crushing rate<10%, water of the finished production10.94%, diameter 5 mm, length 10mm.2. The pellet could certainly improve the growth of growing male deer. The treatment groups (2 pellet groups) were better respectively than control group in average daily gain, body size (body length, height at withes, chest depth)( p>0.05) . there was no significant difference, but pellets had no bad effect on the deer at all. And they showed the trend to improve the growth of deer.3. Pellet could improve remarkablely the energy digestibility of growing male deer. The energy digestibility of pellet group ( 90.02% ) was higher 1 3.05% than the normal group( 76.52% )( P<0.05 ) .And the digestibility of dry matter, organic matter, nitrogen and ADF of pellet were respectively higher 3.85%(p>0.05), 0.65%(p>0.05), 0.05%(P>0.05), 12.90% ( P>0.05 ) .4. Pellet certainly affected the norms of blood biochemistry of growing male deer. Serum gross protein, blood sugar, calcium of pellet were higher respectively 4.7% (P>0.05), 7.73% ( P>0.05 ) and 1.35% ( P>0.05 ) .5. Pellet could improve economic benefit. The outputs of velvet antler of pellet group was higher than normal group(P>0.05).Pellet not only fit to thenutritional need of sika deer and improved utilization ratio of pellet and the yield of velvet antler, but also used labor force rationally .improved labor efficiency and economic benefit. In a word, compared with pellet and the normal feed, pellet improved growth, all nutritional matter digestibility and economic benefit in winter. So pellet wasreasonable and practical.
