By cultivating and breeding, wild centipedegrass in E-mei have relative high turf quality. But it is often limited by its lack of cold tolerance. In order to enhance cold hardiness and turf quality of centipedegrass, wild Centipedegrass in E-mei of Sichuan had been experimented through random trial design with 3 replications in sand soil, along with K2SO4 at different quantity(3 . 4.5 , 6, 7.5 g m-2K2O) and different frequency (3 applications in June> August October, 2 applications in August > October, only 1 application in October).In order to look for a method to prolong green period of centipedegrass and offer a theoerial reference to application of centipedegrass, the influence of potassium on cold hardiness and turf quality of wild centipedegrass had been analyzed. The results showed that:1. During establishing turf, potassium with medium and low quantity(l, 1.5 g m-2K2O) can significantly affect the growth velocity and tiller number of centipedegrass in E-mei. Therefore, potassium can effectively shorten the time of forming turf. Especially, compared to the control, 1.5 g m-2K2O in June may establish turf 5 days ahead of time. Meanwhile, potassium is beneficial to deepening roots and accumulating underground mass. Among all the treatments, 1.5 g m-2K2O hi June and August prolonged the longest root by 17.68%, 1g m-2K2O hi June and August increased underground mass by 47.71%, compared with CK.2. Potassium can positively affect chlorophyll content and prolong the green period. Especially, compared with the control, 6 g - m-2 K2O in 3 applications can increase chlorophyll content by 19.17%,and the difference is significant at 0.05 level. 4.5 g m-2K2O in 3 applications may put scorch date backward by 4 days, and bring regreen date forwardby 6 days. Therefore, the treatment may make green period reach 313 days and lengen green period 10d. Meanwhile, the treatment made turf quality best.3. Potassium can significantly strengthened SOD enzyme activity. 4.5, 6 g m-2K2O can high significantly strengthen SOD enzyme activity.And there is a significant difference in times of application,especially 6 g m-2K2O in 3 applications increased SOD enzyme activity by 19.5%, compared with the control. Meanwhile, in this experiment, all the quantities of potassium can significantly drop electrolyte leakage. Especially 6 g m-2K2O in 3 applications dropped electrolyte leakage by 19.65%.In brief, potassium can fasten the velocity of turf formation, improve the turf quality, and enhance its cold hardiness. By analyzing, 4.5, 6 g ?m"2K2O is adviced to improve cold hardiness of centipedegrass in practice.
