Growing characters and quality of Nanou garlic, which were contrasted with Russian and Cangshan garlics', were studied in this article. The results showed: 1. The main character regulars, such as growth circle, valid leaf area, plant height, diameter of leaf sheath and leaf sum and so on, were similar with Russian and Cangshan garlics'. But the maximum values of valid leaf area, plant height, diameter of leaf sheath were all obviously higher than Russian and Cangshan garlics', and their time which reached to maximum values were later about 15 days than common garlics'. Growth circle was also longer about 15 days than the common garlics'. Flesh weight of single bolt, length of single bolt, diameter of the bolt and the bud and the ratio of bolting were obviously higher than Russian and Cangshan garlics'. There were 5~6 cloves which were only 1 layer on the bulb, and the bulb was white.The cloves were laid in 1~2 axil which were apart from the bolt.The clove was packed by only 1 sheath. The average weight of single bulb and single clove, Indexes of globe shape and clove shape , width of clove back were higher than Russian and Cangshan garlics'. 2. The diurnal changes of photosynthetic rate of Nanou garlic was similar with Russian and Cangshan garlics' during thrive period. The maximum value of photosynthesis emerged at 14:00, which coincided with maximum value of Gs,air temperature and CO2 content in air, but which didn't coincide with PFD's maximum value. Carboxylation ratio of Nanou garlic was distinctly higher than the contrast varieties'. CO2 compensation point was lower than the contrast varieties'. Flesh weight of roots, root sum, all absorbing area and activity absorbing area of single plant, root volume of single plant and root/shoot were all distinctly higher than Russian and Cangshan garlics' during thrive period. And average leaf thickness, average leaf width, activity ofnitrate reductase enzyme were all higher than Russian and Cangshan garlics' during thrive period. 3. Leaf relative electroconductivity, MDA content were higher than contrast varieties' after constantly low temperature treating. And the contents of soluble sugar, proline, chlorophyll, soluble protein were lower than contrast varieties'. Activities of root , SOD, POD, CAT were also lower than contrast varieties' after low temperature treating. Decomposition rates of soluble protein and chlorophyll were more rapidly than contrast varieties' during low temperature treatments, at the same time, the increased ranges of relativity electroconductivity and MDA content were higher, and the increased ranges of soluble sugar and proline were lower. 4. Nanou garlic leaf relative electroconductivity, MDA content were lower than contrast varieties' after constantly high temperature treating. And the contents of soluble sugar, proline, chlorophyll, soluble protein were higher than contrast varieties'. Activities of root , SOD, POD, CAT were also higher than contrast varieties' after high temperature treating. Decomposition rates of soluble protein and chlorophyll were more slowly than contrast varieties' during high temperature treatments, at the same time, the increased ranges of proline content, activity of SOD,CAT were distinctly higher, and the increased ranges of relative electroconductivity and MDA content were lower. 5. Nanou garlic leaf relative electroconductivity, MDA content were lower than contrast varieties' after water stress treating. And the contents of soluble sugar, proline, chlorophyll, soluble protein were higher than contrast varieties'. Activities of root , SOD, POD, CAT were also higher than contrast varieties' after water stress treating. Decomposition rates of soluble protein and chlorophyll were more slowly than contrast varieties' during water stress treatments,at the same time, the increased ranges of proline content, activity of SOD,CAT were distinctly higher, and the increased ranges of relative electroconductivity and MDA content were lower. 6.
