The Conifer Problem And Its Impacts On Ecological Environment In Fujian Province

Ecological environment, the organic combination of human being and natural animal, vegetation, micro-organism and environmental factor, is the foundation of human existence and development. To improve and protect the ecological environment and carry out the strategy of sustainable development is one of fundamental policy of our country. Forest, which is the main body of the terrestrial ecosystem, is the most important renewable natural resource. The destruction and lack of forest resources is just the beginning of deterioration of ecological environment.With the development of industry and agriculture, the demand for wood double and redouble, which lead to the occurrence and development of over-deforestation and leave the forest resources severely destroyed. At the meantime, in order to meet the rapidly rising demand for wood, the people plant pure coniferous forest on wide successive area which give rise to the "conifer problem". Although they create economic effect by planting coniferous trees, the ecological function of forest degenerate rapidly and the quality of ecological environment go down obviously.This thesis systematically analyses the variation characteristics of forest resources of Fujian province in the past few years and points out the problems especially "conifer problem" we are faced with. And then, the issue of forest destruction and problems such as soil degradation and forest ecosystem degeneration result from the replacement of hardwood forest and mingled forest with coniferous forest are studied. Later, we demonstrate that the "conifer problem" will exercise great influence over ecological environment. Finally, some countermeasures and advice are brought forward.
