Onion bulbs were treated with four magnetic intensities (1500GS 2000GS 2500GS 3000GS) respectively during different time (10min 15min 20min 30min ). The results showed that different magnetic intensities and treating times had different effects on germination percentage of onion bulbs and their physiological and biochemical indexing . In all magnetic intensities and treating times , the bigger magnetic intensities were, the shorter time of inhibiting germination needed , but the lowest germination percentage of onion bulbs was 1500GS 20min, and its germination percentage was 21.05% , 31.49% lower than that of CK respectively at 60d 90d ; Physiological-biochemical indexing of onion bulbs by magnetic treating was measured and the results showed that optimum magnetic intensity and treating time decreased content of soluble protein , soluble sugar and total amylase activity and increased IAA oxidase activity , so the germination percentage of onion bulbs was inhibited ; The content of soluble protein , soluble sugar and total amylase activity decreased as the germination percentage of onion bulbs decreased , but IAA oxidase activity was opposite to the germination percentage of onion bulbs .
