Gansu Province is one of the best area suitable for cultivation of apples, especialy inqingyang.Currently,in the process of transportant from origen to cold room and in the appleretail store, quality decline cuased by the bed protective measure is very seriusly. In this study,The effects of Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) with0.02mm and0.04mm packaging ‘Fuji’ appleswas investigated. And the soluble solid content,the titratable acidity, firmness, weight lose,respiration, superoxide dismutase(SOD) and peroxidase(POD) activity and ascorbic acid of‘Red Fuji’ apples were detected and analyzed during the storage period.The main results were as follows:1. PVC packaging treatment can delay the decline in the rate of weight loss during theapple storage, from30d to50d, the treatment can significant decreace the weightlose compared to control. The thickness of0.04mm PVC packging is beter suitblefor the decline of the rate of weight loss.2. The thickness of0.04mm and0.02mm PVC treatment were inhibited effectively thedecrease about the firmness, and the0.04mm was better than0.02mm.3. The PVC treatments inhibited effectively the decrease about the titratable acidity.0.04mm PVC treatment was7.0g/L,0.02was6.8g/L comparatively, and thecontrol was6.2g/L after storage50days.4. Fuji apple was typical climacteric fruit, and had the great peaks of respiration andethylene production. During the storage the rates of respiration of PVC treatmentis10days later than the control, at the same time, it can decrease the peaks ofrespiration.5. PVC treatment could maintain higher the enzyme activities relating to active oxygenmetabolism(SOD and POD),which were contributed to delaying the ripening andsenescence of fruit. The SOD activities of0.04mm PVC was higher20U·g-1FW·h-1than control.
