MHD generator is the generation technology with high efficiency and low pollution.Compared with the other generation of power, MHD generator has the advantages of compactstructure and high transformation efficiency, and plays an irreplaceable role in low powersupply application fields. The tentative idea proposed in this dissertation is using AutomobileExhaust Plasma. This dissertation firstly focuses on the method of calculation chemical composition ofcombustion gas plasma in the low power MHD generator which is using Gasoline combustiongas plasma as working substance and using potassium nitrate as seeded; Analyzes ionizationprocess of potassium nitrate seeded in different temperature and pressure is numericalsimulation. Then, it is discussed conductivity of Automobile Exhaust, and the output electricalproperties data has been obtained based on calculation. On this basis, the structure designtechnique of MHD generator main devices, including MHD Generation Channel as importantdesign, electrodes and magnets, have been studied. Finally, the dissertation studies thecharacteristics of plasma flow in transverse magnetic field by numerical simulation which isfrom commercial software FLUENT based on FVM and has solved the couple flow field andelectromagnetic field by using MHD theory. The research of simulation indicated thattransverse magnetic field possessed inhibitory effects on plasma flow. The research ofsimulation analyzes the effects of different intensities on plasma characteristic, and the changerelation of electric performance parameters of MHD Power Generation with channel.Influence factors of MHD generator output power is analyzed and improvement scheme ispresented. This study provides practical application value for using Automobile Exhaust andtheoretical basis for studying low power MHD generator.
