Non-motorized traveling embraces ideas of equity and harmony, human-friendly and sustainable development, especially for today when looms a tight energy supply plus a worsening of traffic congestion in large cities, and planning a non-motorized traffic system with high quality could guide the traveling public to come up with a new understanding of how they might travel daily. The construction of Non-motorized System is an important part to create Eco Livable City. The Non-motorized traveling can't be ignored which provide convenience for walking and bike traveling, while the motorized traveling is developing.This paper firstly analyses the walking and bicycle traffic situation and the problems on the base of summarizing domestic and foreign theories. And than researches pedestrians and bicycle transport characteristics to identify the main factors affecting the walking and bicycle traffic.Secondly, the set method of sidewalk and crosswalk is researched. By analyzing the computational method of motorway capacity and pedestrian crossing capacity under the condition of non-signal control, the corresponding computational method under the condition of signal control was calculated. Meanwhile, the set condition that pedestrian crossing transform from non-signal control mode to signal control mode was analyzed by using probability theory and gap acceptance theory. On the basis of the previous two-step, from the perspectives of the motorway capacity and pedestrian crossing capacity, definite set condition of pedestrian overpass on urban arterial sections was proposed. Optimal design method of bicycle lanes is given on the base of the study of domestic and foreign bicycle traffic channel methods. In the research the optimized drainage method of bicycle road is presented, based on the research of domestic and foreign theories.Finally, the pedestrian and bicycle signal timing schemes are given on the consideration of the convenience and safety of walking and bike traveling.Thesis research is urban traffic specific embodiment of People-oriented and sustainable development of, which will be contribute to the enrichment and improvement of theoretical research.
