Wood is a renewable green building materials with good environmental coordination. Compared with the traditional masonry materials, steel and concrete materials, the wood needs less energy and has little effect on the ecological environment during the production. It can be used biodegradable and recycling efficiently, especially when the harvesting of wood enters a virtuous circle stage, the environmental advantages of wood are more prominent. A new type of light bridge deck from the point of view for developing and promoting environmentally friendly materials was explored. This paper proposed a new bridge deck system of composite steel-timber bridge deck system based on cross-laminated technology (CLT). And its mechanical properties, connection, and preliminary applications were studied.This done include the followings:(1) Based on reading a large number of domestic and foreign wood bridges and wood deck literatures, summarized the wood bridge deck's types, characteristics and application, the structural styles of CLT deck and the connection between CLT deck and steel beam was analyzed and proposed. (2) With the finite element analysis software ANSYS, CLT deck finite element was modeling. Under different composite layers, different boundary conditions and different aspect ratios, the finite element calculation results of CLT deck and one-way wood deck were compared. It has also analyzed the effect of different dimension on the static properties of CLT deck. (3) With practical engineering background, composite steel-timber bridge deck system based on CLT was used on engineering application research. During the whole life of bridge deck, from construction, to operation and maintenance, etc, concrete deck CLT deck was compared and analyzed.The research shows that composite steel-timber bridge deck system based on CLT has good two-way mechanical properties and can decrease the weight of the bridge, increase the bridge spanning capacity. Considering the bridge whole life process:construction, operation and maintenance and repair, composite steel-timber bridge deck system based on CLT will have a lot of great advantage.
