A certain type of chemical defense equipment is an important technical equipment for chemical defense decontamination units. This new equipment has a high technical content and the structure is complicated, but related fault rules have not been fully studied and mastered. Besides the maintenance technical manpower of grass-roots chemical defense decontamination units is limited, so the maintenance level of this equipment can not meet the requirement of chemical defense mission. Therefore, it has important theoretical and practical value of strengthening research on the maintenance decision of this equipment using project management theory methods, such as systems analysis, mathematical optimization and so on, by which the readiness and availability of this equipment can be increased and the life cycle cost can be decreased.The status and development trend of this equipment maintenance at home and abroad were firstly analyzed, and it laid a strong theoretical basis for this work. Based on analyzing of the working principle and fault characteristics of the equipment, the fault causes and mechanism were investigated by methods of fault tree and effect analysis of failure mode, and the key components of the equipment faults and major fault modes were verified. The data of faults and maintenance accumulated in both practice and repair were collected and analyzed, and the mathematical model for faults time distribution of the equipment was established using statistical method. Furthermore, the faults time distribution of gasket, pump and valve were studied as examples, and fault rules of the equipment were ascertained. Then, the maintenance mode and its decision making were studied by logical decision, and the maintenance program of the equipment was designed. Based on above works and Considered the maintenance requirements (mainly reliability and cost requirements) and practical application, the maintenance interval of the equipment was optimized, and optimal preventive maintenance cycles of pump, valve and other crucial assemblies were obtained. Coupled these studies, the maintenance program of this equipment were designed in detail, and it solved the maintenance problems of the anti-chemical decontamination equipment and provided technical supports for its effective management.
