In recent years, particularly the stratagem on promoting the old northeastern industrial base was confirmed by the central government in 2003, and a series of policies were promulgated successively, which boost the social economy in northeast China. With the rapid growth of national economy, the Shenyang city, as a political, economical and cultural center of northeast China, is in a phase of vigorous development in city construction. The dimension of high-rise building is expanding, and the exploiture of underground space is increasing. At the same time, many construction projects have to be built on the fields which were considered not according with architectural design requirements in the past. As a result, it is more important to give argumentations and evaluations on the earthwork geological characteristics of skyscraper.Based on the geological background and the natural earthwork geology conditions of Shenyang city, directed by the theories and methods of engineering geology and environmental engineering geology, the analysis and evaluation on the earthwork geological characteristics in Shifu Henglong aquare is chosen as the topic in the paper. The terrain, physiognomy, geological structure, hydrology, rock-soil type and its geological characteristics in Shifu Henglong square were researched. The main physical and dynam indexes of different foundation soil are tested and researched. The earthwork geological characteristics of the studied area is analysed and evaluated synthetically.The main contents and achivements of the thesis are as follows:1. Geological status of studied area rock-soil is found out. Drilling result indicates that the rock-soil includes 16 strata, which consists of gravel, pudding, sandstone and granite. The strata are stable. There is not bad geological phenomenon, so it is suitable for building.2. The main physics and dynam parameters of foundation soil are statistied. The result indicates the strata of gravel, pudding, sandstone and granite are good, its eigenvaluebearing of capacity of foundation soil extends to 590kPa.3. The choice of foundation type is suggested. The stake foundation is suitable for high-rise building in the stadied area. If choose drill priming stake, the undertake weight stratum of the stake foundation should be complete airslake sandstone.4. The foundation pit is big and deep, and its around engineering geological environment is complex. Affected by ground-water level in Shenyang city, the foundation pit is suggested drop water locally. The water level is dropped to-18.0 m during constructing, the effect to foundation pit can not be considered. However, because of the strong penetrability and the fast rising of ground-water after constructing, the effect to underground structure should be paid more attention.
