With the development of automobile industry in our country and the improvement of the technology, automatic transmission can improve the dynamic performance and economy efficiency of the vehicle and effectively to reduce the fatigue of drivers. So in recent years, vehicle equipped with automatic transmission has been defined as the development direction by many Auto manufacturers. In this article, the research is set in the country supporting plan"Independent Development of The main parts of the Automatic Transmission". Virtual prototype model of certain automatic transmission is created and co-simulation is made on the base of the model.Firstly,The transmission power-train is analyzed in the article and the dynamical system of the automatic transmission is simplified. So all parts'model could be created by using CATIA and lead them into ADAMS/View. After adding constraints and activation to the virtual prototype model,the virtual prototype model of automatic transmission is formed.Secondly,Analyzed the process of power shift for maximum power, the best strategy for optimal power was made by using Acceleration Method. At the same time, the principle of process of power shift for maximum economical efficiency was analyzed and the best strategy for optimal economical efficiency was made according to fuel consumption of the engine. At last a strategy combined these two strategies was adopted in the acticle.Finally,The model called adams_sub was created in the ADAMS. Also, the model of whole vehicle, including the model of torque converter, the model of automatic transmission, the model of distribution for rotational speed and rotational torque and the running model of vehicle dynamics was created and connected to adams_sub model to form the co-simulation model. By using Dspace, the simulation was done and the results of the simulation are analyzed. The results showed that the virtual prototype model of automatic transmission was in accordance with the physical circumstances.
