| Superior Performing Asphalt Pavement (Superpave) is one of the end products in area of asphalt and mixture after the Strategic Highway Research Program (SHRP) has been finished. Superpave is an improved analytical system based on performance, which stipulates the nature of asphalt binder and mineral aggregate and carries out the mixture design and performance analysis. We have got many achievements through a lot of researches and applications since from the Superpave's coming to China. However, the Superpave asphalt mixture design and analytical system was excogitated on the basis of American weather, environment and the load circumstance, whether it can be applied in our country still needs further study and analysis by science researcher and designer. For exploring Superpave's practicability in the northern region and checking domestic gyratory compactor property, according to the climate and raw material of Heilongjiang province, this paper completely studied Superpave asphalt mixture by carrying on mixture ratio design of Sup-16 asphalt mixture by Superpave asphalt mixture design and analytical system, as well as carrying on mixture ratio design of AC-16 asphalt mixture by Marshall Compaction method; Carrying on contrast experimental research in terms of cubage method, compaction method and road performance to evaluate Superpave and Marshall Method.The experiments show that parameters of domestic gyratory compaction have meet the Superpave asphalt mixture design and analytical system requirement; the VMA of the gradations which passed through and above restricted zone is under the specifications, as well as the filler-asphalt ratio far beyond the specifications, the graduation of Superpave gyratory compactor is in good agreement with design, while the graduation of Marshall compact deviates much; the high temperature stability, water stability and aging stability of asphalt mixture which designed by Superpave asphalt mixture design system shows a better performance than it by Marshall Compaction method, while low temperature anti-crack performance diminishes a little. The application of research findings will reduce the cost of popularization and application of Superpave by combining Superpave technology with domestic gyratory compaction equipment, which is helpful for improving asphalt mixture design. |
