In mechanical seal field, mechanical seal is a kind of important shaft seal widely used in industries of the world. On the transfer of flammable, toxic, corrosive or highly radioactive fluids, fluids leak could cause explosion, fire, poisoning or corrosion of equipment, mechanical seals can guarante to avoid the occurrence of the above maximumly. For the nuclear industry, if radioactive material leaks, the consequences are very serious! One of nuclear second safety pumps in domestic nuclear power plant----residual heat removal pump, the fluid medium which delivered is radioactive brine without salt, so it must be sealed to prevent leakage. On the basis of a large number of mechanical seal references data, the application, research status and development trend of the mechanical seal technology are more accurately described in this paper; more details on the basic structure of mechanical seal, the role of principles and characteristics are recommended, which provide theoretical basis for the design work. For the actual working conditions of the residual heat removal pump, includs operating parameters, media properties, nature of work, working environment, we designed a reasonable seal plan using PV value experience design method and the knowledge of mechanical seal design; We completed its secondary development using the parametric design software (SolidWorks) based on the design plan. The parametric design have achieved the desired objectives: The 3D model and 2D drawing can be rebuilt automatically according to design parameters, so rapid digital design of cartridge mechanical is realized.During the development process of project, In order to study the temperature changes of seal pair , in the reasonable assumptions, we got distribution, maximum and location of the temperature field through numerical calculation by ANSYS10.0 software, which provides theoretical basis for the optimization of design parameters and reducing of seal face's temperature; Also in the reasonable assumptions, heat exchanger welding's thermal stress simulation of the sealing auxiliary system is completed using thermal structure resolve of ANSYS10.0 software, the thermal stress analysis of welding have been simulated in the actual working conditions, which verify the correctness, feasibility of the design .The seal trial pieces is researched in this paper, it is not used in nuclear power plants actually, so the entire sealing system need be tested by static pressure test and dynamic pressure test, the experimental data which obtained from the experiment need further analysis, verify the feasibility of design, on the other hand, it can provide a realistic basis to improvement of the design!...
