Cross bore chain block which overcomes the poor insulation effect, easy to crack, leakage is a new type of wall material and is also a novel alternative to brick block. Based the previous research, the following aspects of the block were studied in this paper:(1)Outlined the forms of cross bore chain block, the previous research and architectural design requirements of cross bore chain block walls, and analyzed the economic benefits of cross bore chain block.(2)Seismic behaviors of 4 pieces of full scale cross bore chain block dry walls confined concrete frame are studied under constant vertical and low reversed cyclic lateral loading.Emphasis was put on the evaluation of the failure mechanism, bearing capacity, deformability, ductility, hysteresis characteristic and stiffness degradation of the wall under seismic loads, and the effects of constructional measures, window opening and height-width ratio on the seismic behavior of walls were investigated.(3)Through SOLID65 unit of the large-scale finite element program ANSYS,9 cross bore chain block finite element model were established and the compressive strength of the block was simulated.According the data, the relationship between compressive strength of the block and the block sidewall thickness (hollow ratio) and concrete strength was analyzed, and this formula of compressive strength of the block was regressed. The test results indicate that horizontal reinforce concrete can improve the seismic behavior, and enhance deformation capacity and ductility of walls. The window hole reduces the initial cracking load, the ultimate load and stiffness of walls, and we suggest that the window hole should be embraced by concrete frame in order to improve the earthquake-resistance capacity. Overlarge height-width ratio is harmful to the earthquake-resistance of walls. The wall without window hole can meet the seismic prevention principle:no damage in small earthquake and no collapsing with strong earthquake, and has a surplus of strength and deformation, while the window hole wall can also meet no damage in small earthquake, but there is danger of collapse when it failed.Cross bore chain block can work well assisting the concrete frame, and the walls have good bearing capacity, deformability and Seismic behaviors.
