Learning From Film--A Research On Form Generation Method

"Learning from everything"is a new architecture form generation method of architecture education in Taiwan. Through creating a set of rules and grammar which sorted by analyzing the logic of things beyond architecture, it does experiments transforming the rules and grammar into architectural vocabulary, in order to create new architecture form. This thesis, which selected the field of film to be learnt from, introduces the process of how to analyzing the coding of film and translate into architectural form, and discusses its significance in architecture education.The story of No Country for Old Men which was the most attractive element of this film was chosen as the sample of research initially. And the movie story text was translated into a coding which contains various relationships between motives by analyzing its logical structure which includes plots, events and motives. Through a certain number of space experiments, the coding mentioned above was transformed into the rules to control the space form generation. Finally, a result of generated space form was selected randomly as prototype space to be given the actual function -Taipei Art and Culture Centre, in order to inspect and verify applicability and feasibility of the form generation method.
