The design of control valve's spool-shaped surface is a complex task.It has not been solved at home and abroad yet.The current method of spool-shaped surface design is basically carried on revolving the flow experiment,because control valve's resistance coefficient is basically decided by the flow area between valve seat and spool after the structure of valve is given. Hence, it can guide the relationship between resistance coefficient and cross-sectional area firstly, then it can complete the design process based on the combined flow test graphic method.This paper described the theory and the basic structure of control valve firstly. Then, using the basic theory of fluid mechanics,regulated valve flow equation on the foundation of the analysis of valves in the basic working principle.Analyzed the relationship between the single-seat control valve's flow and circulation area in the spool valve,derived the approximate formula between circulation area and the spool diameter. Using the calculation formula goes to calculate and design the percentage of the flow characteristics valve spool.It does verification test on the designed-spool. The theoretical and experimental results are compared. The results show that the design method is accurate and feasible.By comparing the direct single-seat control valve flow characteristics of the design and measured flow characteristics, find out the great error under the small opening, the reason is that the flow resistance coefficient of the single-seat control valve's internal structure is influenced the flow coefficient under the small opening. To make the valve having the percentage with such features under the small opening, it optimizes spool profile surface.The error between optimized spool's flow characteristics and measured flow characteristics is significantly reduced.
