As China's sustained rapid development of electronics industries, security of household appliances is also of concern. Enhancing the performance of factory electrical appliance safety testing can not only effectively prevent related accidents, but also provide effective protection of our own security and property. An electrical appliance safety testing equipment of good performance is an effective tool for electrical safety assess. Therefore, developing an electrical appliance safety testing equipment which is fully functional, with good performance and easily operated, have good practical value and broad market prospects.This thesis embarks from the domestic and foreign electric appliance safety testing profession's present situation, analyzes the limitation of electric appliance safety testing equipment. Meanwhile according to the related standards of electric appliance safety testing aspect's both national and international, proposes the electric appliance safety testing equipment related technical indicators, and designs the overall architecture of electrical appliance safety tester. Electrical Safety Tester is divided into two parts, PC and lower machine. The PC uses S3C2440-based embedded platform, the lower machine uses three microcontroller which can respectively test ground and insulation resistance, voltage withstand test and leakage current, low voltage start test and power test.The lower machine is designed in modular, to achieve the function of each module, this thesis designs the signal sampling circuit that can complete each of the test function, and the software program is also completed. In the design of embedded platform, this thesis designs touch screen interface circuit, programs serial port and touch screen drive program and develops application software of Windows CE system.In voltage withstand test, in order to solve the problem that the output of 0~5KV voltage accuracy is not high in the power supply module of previous test, this thesis designs a programmable power supply modules, programmable logic gate array produces PWM signal to control inverter input,which effectively solved the problem of voltage accuracy.The function of electrical appliance safety testing equipment designed in this thesis is perfect. The design includes all contents of national standards in electrical safety of electrical properties. The samples were tested by related department, performed better than the national relevant standards. At the same time the introduction of embedded platform makes great convenience for the following software upgrade.
