With the development of modern industry, the safe operation of equipment becomes more and more important. People pay more attention to the safe monitoring of equipment. The water injection pump unit widely used in oilfield is an important facilities for oil production, whose operation state will directly effect the stable yield and high-yield of crude oil. The implementation of condition monitoring to the water injection pump can promptly detect and predicte faults that may exist in the system, analyze the types and causes of the faults and take some effective maintenance timely to avoid the continuing deterioration of the opration state and the damage of the equipment parts early. So the equipments can be used for a long time.In this paper, water injection pump is the research object and monitoring theory, water injection pump fault diagnosis theory, network communication theory, virtual instrumentation and other technologies were used to design the system for injection pump online monitoring and fault diagnosis. The application of pressure sensors, flow sensors, temperature sensors, electric power sensors and piezoelectric acceleration sensor can acquire water injection pump unit's operation status informations. The signals detected by sensors were converted to standard voltage or current signals which can be collected by the acquisition cards through their respective signal regulating circuitry. Then the acquisition cards will transmit the collected signals to IPC (Industrial Personal Computer) through the on-site Ethernet. IPC will transmit the real-time signal through the communication interface program to the monitoring center server via the Internet. Communication interface program installed on the server will recieve the real-time data from the Internet. On-line monitoring and fault diagnosis software installed on the server will analyze the collected signals and monitor the water injection pump's real-time conditions. If the parameters of the condition monitoring exceed, the monitoring system will alert, and diagnosis will be given. The LabVIEW (graphical programming language)is applied in this system for signal processing, data communications and human-machine interface design. SQL Server database store the data. The system of online monitoring and fault diagnosis for water injection pump has been installed in one plant injection station of an oilfield and achieved good results.
