Slope stability problem is that people are most concerned geological problems in the world for a long time. At present, there are many slope stability analysis methods been used, but these methods have their own advantages and disadvantages of different levels. Therefore, how to choose a proper method has become a focus of attention to people. First, based on the summarization of the latest research and development of slope stability analysis, this article introduced a variety of commonly used method of slope stability analysis, and then closely around three kinds of instability criterion of the FEM strength reduction method, and do a series of studies of the slope. The major elements are as follows:(1) Described the slope damage model and the factors that affect slope stability, and according to the definition of safety factor introduced varieties of commonly used slope analysis methods, and then focused on the finite element strength reduction of the basic principles and instability criterion;(2) Closely around the constitutive of the finite element briefly describes the stress-strain relationship, elastic, elastic-plastic model, flow rule and hardening law, with emphasis on the commonly used MC yield criteria and varieties of DP yield criteria and their derivation in a detailed description;(3) Using ANSYS as the numerical analysis software, combined with a typical example, using exterior angle circle, angles inscribed circle, inscribed circle, MC equal-area circle, and round match with Moore standards, respectively, based on three kinds of criteria of the finite element strength reduction to analyse the slope, and, with the limit equilibrium method of calculation results were compared to prove the feasibility of the strength reduction method;(4) Context of the specific examples of slope engineering, using the smallest error DP circle with the Moore yield criterion to analyse, and then calculating the slope of the deformation, displacement, stress, strain, plastic zone, and by calculated date of the slope we can determine the sliding surface, in order to guide the engineering practice better.
