Rational allocation of reactive power compensation to reduce the distribution network losses, save power and improve the quality of power supply is very important. In this paper, the current status of reactive power compensation, applied to the optimize distribution network of reactive power compensation and the trend of genetic algorithms have been studied, the existing research provides a basis to further improve and enhance its ability to optimize the analysis.Analyzed and compared various trends of the algorithm, summed up the principle of reactive power compensation and fundamental way, summed up the advantages and disadvantages of various methods. Aiming at the disadvantage that the conventional power flow algorithms can't converge well in computing distribution power grid flow, this paper apply the forward/backward sweep method. For the meshed distribution grid, use the superimposition principle to compute its flow after it is decomposed. This method is simple in principle and also has high calculating efficiency and superior convergent property.On the premise that the voltage quality is guaranteed, the mathematics model foe reactive power compensation is founded on principle that the compensation power and grid loss are least and the comprehensive economic benefits is great.In this paper, combining the characteristics of power distribution network, the traditional genetic algorithm has made a series of strategies to improve:Custom initial population by the formation of ways in which the initial distribution to the entire population of space; uses the method of roulette, realize the precedence rule, and guarantee the quality of the individual gene; dynamic cross-rate and cross-rate variability and variation, speed up the convergence rate; made possible by a simple sensitivity analysis of reactive power compensation to choose locations. Preserve the most superior individual to reduced the computing time. The improved algorithm can enhance the search capacity and shorten the search time, increase stability, while maintaining the conventional genetic algorithm merits.According to the cause of energy loss in distribution network, a series of loss reduction and energy-saving measures is put forward. Loss Reduction of technical measures mainly optimize network structure, a reasonable choice wire interface, transformers and economic operation of reactive power compensation; against transformers, and electrical wires cross-section to a reasonable energy-saving measures.In this paper, an example of 29 nodes distribution network is programmed by C language, and make simulation analysis by using Matlab. The results show that the algorithm can significantly improve the optimization effect of distribution network loss reduction and energy-saving.
