The Place Of Urban Street Space Research

Entities and space are the two basic elements of the modern urban design. But the space will be easily overlooked, especially in urban street space. Although people living in it, it still be a blank spots in urban construction.The rapid development of city economic led to the emergence of a large number of high-rise office buildings, those cities which full of life and humane has almost disappeared. Space development make the distance more and more deeper between people. How to evoke the memories of people to the place, how to create a sustainable city livable space, to make humane way of life and meaning more clearly apparent? All of this is the major issues can not be ignored of urban development, and it is also the core of my paper.In this paper, I research the place issues of urban street space through two parts, theoretical summary and case study. I also explore and think on how to use the relevant principles of phenomenology to reflect the regression of the street space spirit. Place of street space is mainly discussed in the former part, from the concept of space to the theory of place, I apply for the issue of place of street space. From the shallower to the deeper, analysis step by step, I sum up the design principle. The latter part of this paper, combing the present situation of urgent need in reforming the urban street of Beidaihe district, Qinhuangdao city, analysing the history background, street space and the activities of individual, using the place theory, I submit the reform principles and intentions of Beidaihe street space.Today in the cultural convergence, the culture which is from the local roots can be a culture of vitality and creativity, and will not become cultural colony. Urban street space is a economic carrier and humanities sites. It has deep cultural differences. Respect and maintain the spirit of place does not mean totally stick and repeat the intrinsic specific structure and features, but a active participation in history to let people to get a solid existential foundation, which is the most fundamental purpose and significance of place. In short, this paper hope to evoke people's attention on the human space of city through the concept of place of urban street space. Thereby, let us further thought and study about these issues, such as the integration of urban street space form, the protection and renewal of building facade, the hommization design of streetscape and how to enhance the identification of place.
