This paper analyzes the development and current situation of the experiments of teaching for digital relaying protection at home and abroad. To meet the need of solving the teaching and researching difficulties in the traditional experiments of teaching for digital relaying protection, this thesis designs out a digital relaying protection system for all the basic processes in the experimental and teaching system, highlighting the characteristics of real-time of the data and modularization design of system, and this system mainly has the following features:(1) This system can achieve different combinations of each module to have different experiments; it also can complete the digital filter of computer protection, algorithm protection, experiments with movement characteristics for a single or group test;(2) This system can be uploaded sampled data and test results of the experiments at any time. It can realize process monitoring and protection of the reaction process by the upper computer monitoring system and also can facilitate the laboratory personnel to analyze the action process;(3) The lower computer receives the experimental control parameters from the upper computer, and realizes remote experimental operation;(4) This system has functions of displaying waveforms and explaining the working principles and has friendly interface and the wave theory to highlight its feature of intuitive;(5) The laboratory assistants can choose different data sources according to their actual needs, and also can proceed the development and validation of a new filter and new protection algorithm in the customize programs, reflecting the practicality and openness of the entire system;(6) This system can basically achieve many kinds of protection principles which are involved in the teaching for digital relaying protection.This paper presents the overall planning of the experimental teaching system and regards 32-bit floating-point and ADSP 21061 chip as the core for the hardware devices of the lower computer, its peripheral circuits are fully in function, and it has RS-232 and USB communication interfaces. The software of this system is composed by the upper computer software and the lower computer software; this paper develops the lower computer software and applies modularization design. The upper computer is mainly used in setting the parameters, filter selection, algorithm selection, selection and protection of the device and the entire value set of experimental system; the lower computer can achieve analog capture function, filtering function and protect algorithm processing and communication. Experimental raw data can be derived from the simulation data of the upper computer software, the recorded wave data and many kinds of data generated by protection tester.Through this experimental system, the laboratory personnel can grasp the principles of digital relaying protection and characteristic analysis of different filters and protection algorithms and protection parts. And they can download procedures that draw up oneself to the device to develop and confirm the new algorithm. This experimental and teaching for digital relaying protection system can reach the anticipated effeets.
