Firstly this paper analysis the characteristics of one intersection, double intersections and several intersections in transportation network in-depth. Based on the model of Webster, this paper established a intersection real-time control model, whose objective function is minimizing the total delay time of all vehicle, and designed a genetic algorithm to solve the model. The model can adjust the signal periods and green light time according to the real-time traffic flow.In the emulation of single intersection real-time control model, real-time timing scheme in reducing traffic delay time has achieved remarkable results, the total delay time reduced by 17%, average vehicle delay reduced by 16%.For the problem of linear area or network area, this paper uses the method of green wave control to optimize the signal control of the intersections on main lines. In order to realize the green wave control in main lines, this paper adopted the way of 4 phases release in turn. Theoretically, the timing scheme of real two-way green wave control may not exist. Therefore, this paper constructs an optimization model to be close to the control of real two-way green wave. Emulates it in cellular automaton model, and the result of the new optimization model has improved a lot, the total delay time reduced 11.33%, and the average speed increased 6.25%.Through the promotion of the above methods, this paper then established the optimization model of network area. By using the new optimization model, the total delay time reduced 25.12%.This optimization model is feasible and its adaptability is strong, the algorithm is simple to implement.
