With the development of wind power industry, wind power has a higher and higher proportion in our country's energy structure as a new energy. Wind turbine fault diagnosis technology can effectively improve the unit's reliability, reduce operating costs and improve the efficiency of wind farms, which has a great significance for promoting the wind power industry development and the energy structure adjustment.The basic principles of fault diagnosis technology is introduced, the common failure and mechanism of wind turbines is summarized. According to the disadvantages such as low reliability, high cost and poor adaptability of existing wind turbine fault diagnosis system, combining with the wind turbine research and development direction, a fault diagnosis program for direct-driven synchronous wind turbine by current signal analysis is presented.The basic principle of wind turbine fault diagnosis system by current signal analysis is intorduced. A direct-driven synchronous wind turbine experimental model is designed by a DC motor and a synchronous generator. By collecting the imbalance fault current signal of the experimental model and using wavelet packet analysis tool to find the hidden characteristic parameters of current signal, the feasibility of current signal analysis for direct-driven synchronous wind turbine fault diagnosis is proved.According to the system design requirements and the advantages of BP neural network and expert system, a neural network expert fault diagnosis system, which is based on current signal analysis, is designed. It focuses on BP neural network inference module of the fault diagnosis system, using neural network toolbox of MATLAB software to modify parameters of the inference module. Through training BP neural network inference module, the simulation results of wind turbine fault diagnosis system is obtained. The results show that BP neural network as the inference module of ditect-driven synchronous wind turbine fault diagnosis system has a good diagnostic result. Some questions about direct-driven wind turbine fault diagnosis system remain to perfect and futher study is summarized. Researchs in this paper have important reference value of ditect-driven synchronous wind turbine fault diagnosis.
