Medium-voltage power line communication plays a very important role in the field of distribution automation. In order to achieve the medium-voltage power line communication, attenuation and noise characteristics of the medium-voltage power line channel are researched initially in this paper, and the channel modeling for the medium-voltage distribution network is achieved. The modulation techniques for the medium-voltage PLC communication are studied. For medium-voltage power line channel characteristics, the multi-carrier FSK modulation technique is studied. On the basis of the modulation theory of DDS, the design of DDS-based PLC communication modulation system is achieved. A hardware design of the multi-carrier FSK modulation and demodulation system is completed. Combined with the specific hardware implementation, the algorithms of the modulation and demodulation on ARM chip are discussed. The reliability of the system is improved by adopting some necessary anti-interference measures.
