At present, the ship pipe routing is designing a pipe from the starting point to the end point which avoids the obstacle and meets various constraint conditions. Its objective is the shortest pipe path and the least bend number, that is economy factor, but neglecting maintainability factor. When the pipe fails, its maintenance is difficult and time-consuming. Its expense is very high. Even more, it leads to the ship suspended and has the impact on the safe and economic operation of the ship. So, in the pipe design stage, the maintainability factor should be considered, as a goal in the design. In the paper, the maintainability design techniques is applied to the ship pipe layout design, the ship pipe is optimized according to maintenance accessibility. Firstly, the ship piping layout mathematical model is established. Secondly, with the application of Genetic Algorithms, the pipe mathematical model is solved. Finally, the simulation experiment is done. The main contents are as follow:(1) The paper introduces the specific content and process of the ship pie design and analyzes the problem. The maintainability design technique is applied to the ship pipe layout design.(2) The ship pipe mathematical model is established includes single pipe mathematical model and multi-pipe mathematical mode.(3) The Genetic Algorithms is applied to solve the mathematical model. It includes:chromosome code, population initialization, genetic operation and so on.(4) The ship routing simulation system has been achieved by using VC++ and OpenGL. The result verified the better effects of ship pipe layout design optimization.
