As the increase of high-rise buildings, we rely more and more on elevator and pay more attention to elevator operating efficiency. Nowadays, buildings need to equip multiple elevators to meet the need of heavy traffic. In order to improve the quality and reliability of transport services, reduce the waiting time and riding time, elevator group control system are used to manage and dispatch the elevators.Group control host is the core of the elevator group control system. It serves as the traffic controller and makes the elevators orderly and efficient. With the rapid development of electronic technology, elevator group control system has undergone the course of relay control, integrated circuit control and artificial intelligence control. This paper summarizes the current elevator group control system, and designs an elevator group control system based on the ARM technology and the industrial field bus CAN (Control Area Network). This system adopts CAN bus as the communication bus. The group control host collects information from the elevators at real time and processes it by group control algorithm,then orders are assigned to the elevators to realize group control for 8 elevators under 64 floors efficiently.This paper elaborates the hardware structure and software design of the group control system whose core processor is LPC2368 based on ARM7 architecture. Hardware components include communication module, display module, storage module and keyboard module. This paper designs the communication protocol between group control host and elevators which contain message format, state commands, control commands and so on. Group control algorithm which determines the group control system's efficiency is the key point of the system. This paper analyzes the characteristics of the elevator group control system and elevator traffic system and proposes a dispatching model of the elevator group control system based on evaluation of service and response, then designs the group control rule and proposes service and response function. This algorithm has little computation workload and the input parameters can be accurately got. This paper also proposes a dynamic update method which reduces long waiting time percent greatly. Beside, this paper discusses the dispatching model of the elevator group control system based on fuzzy identifying of traffic pattern which pays more attention to passenger's mental comfort level. This algorithm chooses waiting time, riding time and crowd as input parameters, then proposes a synthetic evaluation criterion to realize group control for the elevators efficiently.
