Buddhism buildings in north Shanxi, as an important part of Buddhism buildings in Shanxi, have special regional and culture characters. They are also typical representatives of Buddhism buildings in Liao and Jin dynasties with wealthy historical value, scientific value and art value, and have been an essential part in Chinese ancient buildings. Besides, Buddhism buildings in Liao and Jin dynasties are also an important transition in the development process of Chinese Buddhism buildings, and play a role of"linking the preceding Tang dynasty and the following Yuan dynasty". In the historical process of amalgamation of Buddhism and Chinese traditional culture, Buddhism buildings in Liao and Jin dynasties also played an important role, and brought new livingness for building culture of Han nationality. This article will study on general style and features of Buddhism buildings by analyzing general structure, yard layout, temple space and their art characters of Buddhism buildings in North Shanxi, based on the ethnic culture of Qidan minority and Nüzhen minority, and reflect the corresponding amalgamation development and innovation of Buddhism building culture, under the Buddhism idea of localization and nationalization in Liao and Jin dynasties in North Shanxi. This article consists of six sections. SectionⅠ, prolegomenon, introduces source and research value of this subject, sums up culture background of Buddhism buildings in Liao and Jin dynasties in North Shanxi, presents existing research achievements about buildings in Liao and Jin dynasties, and makes exact definitions to time scope, space scope and research objects.SectionⅡandⅢ, points of this article, analyze source and development of Qidan and Nüzhen minorities, under the background of geographical and historical environment in North Shanxi, to thereby understand their culture features, and masters the thread of culture development style of buildings in North Shanxi. SectionⅢ, analyzes development features of Buddhism buildings in North Shanxi in Liao and Jin dynasties in technology and art by introducing cases, and sums up development route of Buddhism buildings in time sequence, which provides a clear development artery of buildings in Liao and Jin dynasties from rudiment to final stage.SectionⅣdiscusses forwarding and evolvement of layout structure and internal space of buildings in Liao and Jin dynasties in North Shanxi, based on traditional culture of Chinese Buddhism buildings, and then analyzes effect and position of Buddhism buildings in Liao and Jin dynasties in North Shanxi, in Chinese ancient buildings.SectionⅤanalyzes cognition and understanding of Qidan and Nüzhen minorities to Buddhism buildings in various comparison aspects, by a comparison of buildings in Liao and Jin dynasties and buildings in Song dynasty which belongs to the same historical stage as that of Liao and Jin dynasties, from whole to part, and also shows features of Buddhism buildings in Liao and Jin dynasties in North Shanxi.The final part, conclusion, sums up the analysis of each part, and what I have learned and understanding about ancient buildings by studying Buddhism buildings in Liao and Jin dynasties in North Shanxi. It is expected to, when studying treasury historical languages remained by the ancients, better preserve these historical treasure to make them our culture heritage that can be used for ever.
