Analysis Of The Free Form Surface Architecture Forms

In the history of the human architecture, people have been trying to break the orthogonal modes system of architectural form to search for the flowing free form, namely the free-form surface architecture in this thesis. However, the orthogonal modes system is in long-term development with science and technology of the past period, and the free-form surface architectural form at the same period is too much ahead of the time. Only in the contemporary background of information age, with its digital technology, offered technical support from design to construction for the free-form surface architecture, make it an important outstanding architectural trends at the dawn of the new millennium.This thesis starts with architectural form, reviews the development course of the free-form surface architecture. Then from aspects of culture, technology, art and environment under the background of information age, analyzes four factors affecting free-form surface architecture, on this basis, summarizes its morphological characters from the whole free-form shape, local architectural form and the internal space form. Followed by a technical background analysis and some case-study which includes a domestic one, to form a complete double perspective includes theory and practice, and complete the state of free-form surface architecture from. In the end, the thesis makes summary and looks ahead in the actual situation of China, in order to provide some new thoughts and philosophies for the architecture design.
