Conventional spectrum analysis method plays an important role in condition monitoring and fault diagnosis of rotating machine, but has serious flaws. On the one hand, the amplitude and phase of vibration signals are separated, even the phase information is ignored; on the other hand, which does not reflect the relationship between the vibration signals on the rotor cross-section and can not get all information of the rotor vibration. So, holospectrum is constructed based on information fusion technology, which is fused on the data layer. Holospectrum is introduced completely from algorithmic basis, technical points, decomposition principle and balancing method, particularly how to choose the balancing target is discussed. And for faults of a domestic 600MW steam-turbo-unit, holospectrum based on information fusion technology is used comprehensively, imbalance vibration is measured, the type of fault is determined and the reason of fault is analysed, the balancing program is seted out and on-site processing is carried on.The result shows that:holospectram based on the data layer has unique superiority in fault diagnosis, the graph is clear to distinguish fault type easily, especially, the initial phase point is used to describe the unbalance responses accurately. In the dynamic balancing, holospectram can be used to balance the anisotropic rotor, the number of test runs is reduced, the balancing procedure is simplified and the precision of blancing is improved.
