Research On The Original Design Of Sign System For Modern City Square

With the development of modern society as well as improvement of people's living standards, urbanites have a growing need for such public space as squares. A problem to be solved is that:how to setup a kind of square sign system which is standard,reasonable,identifiable,highly efficient and complete,in order to provide people with a pleasant interaction and activity space. Modern city square sign system is a complete system composed by multiple subsystems including tour direction guide,business dining area annotation and cultural landscape navigation. Access is paramount consideration for the reason why we build it. And it do need instructions and guidance functions of sign system. There is a pattern in sign system. Taking Xianyang Unity Square for example, according to the analysis and research on the problems such as diversified design, user-friendly design, space division, cultural connotation of research and the fusion of sign system and landscape, it eventually find a set of significance of theoretical guidance in city sign system which provide a series of practical theories for future ones.The thesis is divided into six chapters overall. The first chapter is the introduction part which have make the overall presentation mainly on bringing up problem, the research background and significance of research methods. The second chapter mainly analyzes the relationship between square sign system and square division of the space environment in order to provide a theoretical basis for the design of the sign system. The third chapter contains systematic exposition of the basic theory of sign system design mainly by making a summary of sign system concepts, elements and design features. The fourth chapter analyzes the uniformity between cultural connotation of sign system and the square environment. It comes to a conclusion:cultural connotation of sign system is an important part which high light the image and characteristics of square. Simultaneously, square's creative sign system should also be considered comprehensively with these three factors, that is squares planning, landscape and environmental design, in order to create a clear and coherent image of the square. The fifth chapter illustrate the square's sign system design by analysis the case of the actual work called Xianyang Unity Square.The sixth chapter is the conclusion of this article,that is indicating the innovative point and summarizing the article based on the results of previous chapter's research.
