Nowadays, with prosperously rich of the material living condition and the aggravating of environmental issues, thonghts of pursuiting for healthy, comfortable and natural urban environments has gradually become a consensus.As a result, the development of urban rivers is changing gradually from a simplex water conservancy construction to a comprehensive constuction with mutipul purposes including water conservancy construction, landscape, ecology and so on,the constuction of urban riverfront green space is also attracting more and more attentions.This article analysis the construction,fuction and vegetation characteristics of natural river and types,value,development derections of urban rivers,aims at the specificity of urban riverfront green space to propose the principles of planning and designing of vegetation landscape of urban riverfront green space and coordinated methods between vegetation landscape and other landscape elements of river.In addition, through field research and data access methods, combined with the affects the river hydrology on the plant site conditions, it concludes the aquatic and water-wetland plant species which can grow well not only in river and the washland in different regions of China, in order to help the city Riverfront green plant landscape to better achieve its scientific and ecological.
