With generator unit capacity and the scale of transmission-line system of electric power becoming larger and larger, higher and higher standard demands are made on reliability and dynamic quality of excitation control for generating set and electric power system. Being confronted with more and more difficult in control process, and without exact mathematic model, the traditional and general PID control, which is based upon exact mathematic model, is no longer satisfying the demands of the dynamic and static quality.In order to overcome this deficiency, scholars at home and abroad combined the PID control with fuzzy control belong to intelligence control theory, exploited to the fully their favourable conditions and avoid unfavurable ones, and developed multifold fuzzy PID excitation controllers. However, As the general fuzzy controller factors can't be changed once seted, the controller can't adapt the system parameters. Therefore, the fuzzy controll needs futher improved.The development and actuality of synchronous generator excitation control law is analysed in this thesis. Based on the systematic study of fuzzy control theory and industrial PID control technology, a kind of fuzzy PID control strategy is put forward with time change quality and nonlinearity of controlled plant is considered, which is bombined fuzzy control with PID control, and the fuzzy PID exitation controller has been designed.This controller is characterized by simpleness and high accuracy of PID control and good adaptablity and robustness of fuzzy control. after through in-depth study of fuzzy control theory, a new kind of fuzzy PID based on the mind of variable universe has been designed, then a lot of comparative simulation has been proposed under the situation of system parameters changing and suffering disturbance by using the above models and matlab simulation software, and the result indicate that the VUF-PID excitation controller has better controling effect and robustness than the general PID excitation controllers do.
