With the growth of the mileage of China's high-grade-road constructions, the loss of property and personnel which is caused by traffic accidents is also growing. Domestic and international studies show that as to both urban fast road and highway, intertwined districts are the accident-prone section of road, and high-grade road's traffic accidents not only result in the damage of people and goods, but also often have a great impact on the main road and multiple-lane side roads and even the running of entire road network of the traffic. Mixed areas, to which complex operation of vehicles and safety research and analysis work have always been a difficult problem are concerned as an important component of high-grade roads. As a result, a study of the safety research of the mixed zone has important significance. The major idea of the thesis is to upgrade the evaluation of traffic conflict from the traditional single indicator to the injury as an important factor in traffic conflict through analyzing the traffic-based conflict of theory. At the same time, a comprehensive evaluation method.of taking into account the evaluation of sections of equivalent length and mixed traffic volume of traffic is also involved to be applied in the evaluation of the safety of intertwined areas. After the in-depth study of the traffic conflict and the basic theory for intertwined districts, the thesis classifies the traffic conflict of the mixed areas according to the types and different locations of the conflict. With the classification, the investigation research towards the traffic conflict in the mixed areas could be deployed in scientific methods and arrangements, and the calculation of injury of the traffic conflict in the mixed areas is proposed, which is based on this classification. In the accordance with the determining method of the injury of traffic conflicts and a thoughtfully consideration of various factors to the mixed areas'traffic safety, the thesis puts forward a gray evaluation method that is evaluated by mixed areas MRTC /MPCU indicators, as well as case studies.
