Application Study Of Land Art In Comtemporary Landscape Art

Land art is abstract, simple and orderly. Simple as it is, land art is not tedium, because its design is based on the romantic tone. Land art advocates the idea of harmonious co-existence with nature, and human is not the master of nature any more. Not like traditional sculpture that could be placed anywhere, land art should be placed in an environment with characteristc. Land artists use natural elements like soil, rock, water, etc and natural power to cultivate and change the original landscape. Their works go together with natural environment, and some of the works could be considered as a landscape themselves.At present, modern landscape art is impacted by all kinds of ideological trends. Landscape is always influced by art, especially by land art which has a far-reaching influence on it. Due to its speciality, land art is closely connected with landscape, and its innovative idea and freshing design skill enlighten the landscape designers, stimulate the development of landscape, while land artists want to discover the co-existence way by natural space. As designers, we should look at this rationally, learn from others selectively, not just copy others, and make a reference in accordance with the actual situation, and only in this way could the quality of landscape art be promoted. The biggest difference between landscape and art is that art is not involved with sociality, but landscape has to meet the functional requirement, also has to take economic budget and ecological balance into account. If a landscape art works wants to be a lively one, it has to make the balance among all kinds of elements, and it should be unique, meet the social development and functional need, have innovatively aesthetic value.Innovation of this thesis lies in the following two aspects:Firstly, it analyzes, concludes and studies land art on background, theory, skill, characteristic.form and etc, in an overall and systematic way. It also discusses the interaction and similarity between land art and modern landscape art, and this could be helpful to landscape designers.Secondly, it analyzes the relationship between land art and landscape art from the perspective of art structure and ideological trends, and this is a cross-over study between different subjects. It finds innovative thoughts and insperation for modern landscape art, and lays a new theoretic foundation for the future development of landscape architecture.
