Automotive information display system is the most important window for a driver to get information from a vehicle. It provides the driver with real-time vehicle operating parameters, alarms, safety reminders and other exception information etc. It plays an irreplaceable role in driving security and economy. With the development of automotive electronic technology, more and more electronic control systems are installed to the vehicles, automotive dashboard needs to display more information, the traditional sense of automotive display systems can not meet the requirements, therefore, with embedded operating system, integrated field bus technology, multi-function display, and multimedia entertainment functions in one system will be the direction of the vehicle status display system development.This thesis focuses on the research of automotive centralized display center unit system, which is one of the most important components of vehicle CAN bus control system. We make full use of embedded technology, field bus technology and LCD display technology, and we proposed a brand new idea for automotive centralized display center unit system, that is "LPC2478+μC/OS-Ⅱ+TFT-LCD". In order to realize a digital automotive dashboard function while the system has a multimedia entertainment center, we selected the following design options:we choose LPC2478 microcontroller as the main controller, which is an ARM7-based processor designed by NXP Semiconductors. The real time operating systemμC/OS-Ⅱis embedded to overall planning system resources, and increase efficiency of the system; The CAN controllers inside LCP2478 along with external CAN transceivers complete vehicle states information reception and transmission. We use external Flash memory to store a large amount of data; we expand two high-speed SDRAM chips to improve the speed of the system; and we add a 256MB SD-Card chip to record vehicle status information and meet recreational requirements as well. We choose a 7-inch TFT-LCD screen as the man machine interface, and a GUI drawing library is designed.The application of ARM processor LPC2478 provides a high-speed data processing capability and rich interface resources for the system; we use the CAN bus technology transfer vehicle status information, and compared to the traditional vehicle display system, it has the following advantages:low cost, high reliability, strong anti-interference, simple structure, etc.; the application ofμC/OS-Ⅱimproves the system's real-time work and reduces the difficulty of software development; the application of TFT-LCD display module breaks the he traditional car dashboard with indicators based on stepper motor. And we propose the concept of split screen and on-demand real-time display. TFT-LCD with colorful, high resolution, quick display speed, small volume, light weight, low power consumption, environmental protection, and high precision are reflected in the system.This design breaks the traditional vehicle information display system whose functions are monotonous.The system is compatible with multi-media entertainment functions except displaying vehicle status information, abnormal alarms and safety reminders. In addition, the hardware and software design of the system are adopted modular design to increase the readability of the application program and improve product development efficiency.Experimental results show the system is feature rich, good visibility, high precision, good reliability and easy expansion. The system is echoing the direction of vehicle status display system development.
